Boishakhi Mela 18 April 2009
The Boishakhi Mela provides an opportunity for Bengali people to
revisit, revitalise and celebrate their cultural identity and heritage.
Turner Freeman has been an ongoing supporter of the local Bengali
community for many years. Foez Dewan, Associate, is an integral part of
Turner Freeman's relationship with the Bangladesh community. Foez has
been providing legal advice and services to this community for many
years and continues to find new avenues to grow and nurture the
relationships.
The festival visitors at the Sydney Olympic Park participated in many
cultural activities that went well into the evening.
There were many
display tents with a diverse range of foods from different geographic
areas of Bangladesh, and many local Bangladeshi businesses
Throughout the day there were many fine performances from cultural
groups throughout Sydney all of whom are dedicated to keeping Bengali
culture alive in Australia.
At the close of the evening was a fantastic show of fireworks which were
enjoyed by all. Turner Freeman was honoured to be one of the Major
Sponsors of the Boishakhi Mela.
