Presented by Richard Shepperd CEO and Managing Director, Macquarie Bank

Richard Sheppard joined Macquarie Group’s predecessor, Hill Samuel Australia in 1975, initially working in Corporate Finance.  He was head of the banks Melbourne office from 1986 until 1988 and became Head of the Corporate Banking Group in 1988.  He has been a member of the Group Executive Committee since 1986 and Deputy Managing Director since 1996.

Following the restructure of the Macquarie Group in late 2007, he was appointed Managing Director and CEO of Macquarie Bank Limited and Deputy Managing Director of Macquarie Group Limited.  He is Chairman of the Government’s Financial Sector Advisory Council and is a director of the Australian Financial Markets Association, Cure Cancer Australia Foundation, the Bradman Foundation and the Sydney Cricket Club.

Macquarie's operations span the globe.  It is an Australian-based global corporation operating and competing in the world's financial markets. All business activities are encompassed by a strong risk management framework and are facilitated by a number of Macquarie-wide service areas.

Macquarie's organisational approach encourages a sense of ownership and entrepreneurial endeavour by business managers.  It also allows central management to remain focused on risks to Macquarie arising from market and industry forces and issues of medium and long-term significance.
